THE HUNGER GAMES by Suzanne Collins

Reviewed by Samantha

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a science-fiction book that takes place in future North America, Panem. This book is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who must struggle to keep her family alive by hunting in the forbidden forests outside of her home. However, she is suddenly taken away from her family when she volunteers to take her sister’s place in the annual Hunger Games, a violent duel to the death on live T.V. The story follows Katniss, as she tries to survive the Games, and, hopefully see her loved-ones again.

The Hunger Games is told through the eyes of Katniss. At the start of this narrative, it is slow, but quickly turns into a fast-paced book, with a page-turning plot. Suzanne will keep you hooked, by creating a suspenseful book, making you want more. You will also love the second book of The Hunger Games trilogy, Catching Fire. The book takes place a year after Katniss and her Hunger Games phenomenon, with an even bigger twist, the Quarter Quell. I would recommend this book to people who like science fiction or stories with a touch of romance. I loved this book and would recommend it to kids 11 and up.
